SHEBA ICE MOTION

DATA DESCRIPTION

The Eulerian Ice Motion Products found at this location were produced by tracking common features on a 200km-by-200km grid centered at the SHEBA camp. A cell spacing of 5km results in a 41-by-41 element grid. The ice motion products cover the time periods from November 1, 1997 through December 25, 1997 and from January 10, 1998 through October, 1998.

The Animation of Deformation shows the deformed grid of each pair of Radarsat images during the time periods described above. The SHEBA camp location is centered upon each deformation image. Cell area changes are color-coded. These Eulerian grids show locations and activities of leads around the SHEBA camp. Also included on each animation frame are a displacement vector showing the motion of the camp during the image-pair time span, a timeline showing the start and end image identification and day-of-year of both images, and a basin-wide map showing the location of the camp.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

We wish to thank Harry Stern of the SHEBA Project Office, Polar Science Center, University of Washington, for ordering the image data and for providing the image pairing information and the corresponding SHEBA camp locations in the Radarsat images.
